Using old Wi-Fi Name and Password
It is always best to choose a new SSID after changing your Wi-Fi network to Plume. It is also highly recommended to choose an alternative Wi-Fi password in order to maintain optimal network security.
If you decide to keep your existing SSID and password, be sure to turn off the Wi-Fi on your existing router or modem/router after setting up Plume. Keeping your existing Wi-Fi on can cause frequent disconnects of your devices from Plume.
If you need to keep your old Wi-Fi
If you are keeping Wi-Fi on your modem and/or previous router system on, setting a different SSID becomes crucial for your devices to avoid bouncing between different networks with the same SSID.
Do not add the Plume network to any devices you intend on using with the old network and likewise forget the old network on all devices being connected to the Plume network. Along with the additional interference caused, you will lose connectivity whenever your devices switch from Plume to the old Wi-Fi network and we strongly suggest you turn off the old Wi-Fi instead.
