Using the old WiFi Name and Password
In order to maintain optimal network security, it is always suggested to choose a new SSID and password after changing your WiFi network to Plume. This will require you to update the WiFi settings on all your devices, which may not be very convenient if you have more than a handful.
If you have many devices, keeping your old SSID and password will allow them to easily migrate to your new Plume network. In this case, be sure to turn off the WiFi on your existing router or modem/router after setting up Plume. Keeping your existing WiFi turned on can cause frequent disconnects of your devices from Plume.
If you need to keep your old WiFi
If you are keeping the WiFi on your modem and/or previous router system turned on, setting a different SSID becomes crucial for your devices to avoid bouncing between different networks with the same SSID.
Do not add the Plume network to any devices you intend on using with the old network and likewise forget the old network on all devices being connected to the Plume network. Along with the additional interference caused, you will lose connectivity whenever your devices switch from Plume to the old WiFi network and we strongly suggest you turn off the old WiFi instead.
